TAMPAPlant defeated Jesuit on week one of the high school football season last year, 34-20. With Hillsborough county games being moved to Saturday this year, due to the Republican National Convention, the Tigers and head coach James Harrell were hoping for a different outcome.

The Panther defense would not allow that to happen.

Plant held the Jesuit offense to under 100 total yards, while forcing three turnovers, in a 18-0 shutout win on the Bright House Sports Network Subway Restaurants Game of the Week.

The Panthers were swarming to the ball all night long, sacking Jesuit QB Leland Saile three times. DE Mitchell Wright led Plant with 10 tackles and a sack.

A fumbled punt in the first quarter by Jesuit led to a Paris Bostick touchdown run. Plant LB Reeves Rogers then picked off Saile, which led to a short touchdown run by QB Aaron Banks to make it 12-0 after the first quarter.

Banks finished the night with 112 yards through the air.

Plant kicker William Few added two field goals (40, 35).

The Panthers will travel to New Orleans next Friday to take on Louisiana power Curtis High School at the SuperDome, while Jesuit will travel to Middleton
